We all know that chocolate tastes good, and each mouthful can leave us craving more, but do you know where it comes from, what it contains, or how long it takes to make?

  1. Chocolate comes from a fruit tree; it’s made from a seed.
  2. Each cacao tree produces approximately 2,500 beans.
  3. Benjamin Franklin sold chocolate in his print shop in Philadelphia.
  4. Cacao beans were so valuable to early Mesoamericans that they were used as currency.
  5. The Aztec emperor Montezuma drank 50 cups of cacao a day from a golden chalice.
  6. It takes two to four days to make a single-serving chocolate bar.
  7. During the Revolutionary War Soldiers were sometimes paid in chocolate!
